I recently discovered The Depot at Gibson Mill in Concord, NC. It’s an old mill that’s been converted into an antiques and designer mall. Inside you’ll find bright, sunlit corridors and hundreds of different vendor stalls selling all manner of vintage and antique furniture and housewares, and even some handcrafted items.
The colorful, rustic birdhouses below caught my eye – particularly since I’m working on a child’s room with a bird theme. What a cute assortment they’d make, displayed on a shelf or hung on the wall. Or of course, used outside for actual birds! That petite deco vanity on the right is lovely. I could see it brightened up with some paint and put in a bathroom or maybe even an entry foyer.
Below is a stall with a science lab theme, with shelves full of jars, beakers and test tubes. The possibilities for what you could do with these are endless! Love that medical chart, too.
If you visit The Depot, I recommend comfy shoes – the place is huge! They do provide shopping carts which is a great help if you don’t want keep toting your finds up to the front counter (they will hold things for you during your visit). It will definitely be a regular stop on my antiquing rounds.
