Last weekend I made my bi-annual trip up to High Point for the fall home furnishings market. I had a great time connecting with my designer friends, attending seminars and seeing the latest and greatest finds in home decor. This year I was pleased to note the ever-growing emphasis on products made in the USA. More and more, consumers are asking for domestically-produced furniture, and the industry has responded. There are lots of new and young companies offering bench-made and artisan crafted furnishings, much of it made-to-order. Meanwhile, many of the larger and established companies are shifting resources back to local manufacturers, producing all or part of their inventory domestically. With that in mind, I focused my visit on finding some of the best of what’s being “made in the USA” today. Here’s a sampling of some of my favorites:
I spent two full days at market, and still only scratched the surface in terms of seeing all of the great furnishings being produced in the US today. The sheer variety, not to mention the design quality is amazing, as you can see. It’s really something to be proud of!
