As part of some research for a current project, I stopped into the store, Shower Me With Love, in the SouthPark area of Charlotte next to Barnes & Noble. They specialize all things kid/baby, including decor, clothing, toys and gifts.
About half the store is devoted to kids’ room furnishings. The selection of furniture and bedding in store was fairly limited; however they do have catalogs where you can view a more extensive collection. youngAmerica (a division of Stanley Furniture) is the primary manufacturer of the beds, cribs, and chests for sale at SMWL. The furniture is fairly traditional/transitional in style and widely appealing. I was pleased to see it’s all made in the USA and is environmentally friendly.
There are design assistants on hand, ready to help you with product selections, pricing and order placement. I spoke with one of the designers, and she was very helpful in showing me the custom and semi-custom crib sets and fabric swatches. In case you’re curious, a custom crib set will run you upwards of $350; and easily higher with tailored details like special pleating and cording.
I photographed a couple of catalog pages showing examples of custom crib sets. With most of these you can mix and match fabrics to your heart’s content:
My assistant joined me on this outing. Here he is, “testing” some products in the toy section:
Shower Me With Love is owned by local Charlotte couple Andrew and Emily Shallal. The SouthPark location opened in February 2011.
