Antiquing in Asheville: The Screen Door

Screen Door thumbnail imageOne of many things I love about Asheville, NC is the wealth of superb antique and vintage shopping. On a recent trip I visited at least a half-dozen stores (photos and future blog posts forthcoming!) But my hands-down favorite, and a must-stop even on a day trip is The Screen Door. While not huge in comparison to some antique malls (and relievedly not overwhelming either), The Screen Door is finely curated and thoughtfully merchandised. It’s arranged into vendor stalls; each one an artistic display of vintage furniture, decor and assorted curiosities.

If you are seeking garden furniture, industrial salvage items, vintage ephemera, or a unique conversation starter, The Screen Door is your source. Here are vignettes to inspire and a few things to make you go, hmmmmmm:

The silver, grey and soft blue palette of this vignette is so soothing.

Screen Door canisters

No canister set is truly complete without one for pates.

I will call him Orville Reden-squawker.
